Israel Palestine Statement

Over a month has now passed since the violence in Israel and Palestine erupted. We at JEF Malta would like to express our disappointment at what has continued to be a lack of action by EU leaders to prevent the humanitarian catastrophe which has continued to unfold. It is particularly disappointing given that an EU delegation visited Israel but did not visit or seemingly attempt to visit the Palestinian side (Palestinian Authority in the West Bank). While we are not oblivious to the history of the region, and the intricacies of this particular conflict, not least including the hostages still held by Hamas in Gaza and also the influence by external actors such as Hezbollah and Iran, it would be amiss for us not to call for a ceasefire.
